Must Have WordPress Plugins

Yoast SEO

Recommended for basic SEO optimization for your website. If you can afford it, I highly recommend to pay for their most basic tier that includes more than one keyword/phrase per page and custom featured image for each page/post link.

Age Gate

Force anyone who visits your website to enter their date of birth or answer a yes or no question about their age. Failing the test results in the website being locked for their IP if set up to do so.

LiteSpeed Cache

Manually clear the cache of your entire website, a specific page, etc. to ensure anyone who accesses your website will always see it’s most up to date version.

JetPack

Use it mainly to track your website’s statistics to know where you’re getting the most clicks to your website from. It also adds a variety of media blocks like stories to add to your website.

Akismet

Just say your website is non-commercial or a blog to use it for free! It will help block spam entrees on your forms as well as block any suspicious login attempts. Paying for it improves it a lot and it’s honestly not too much.

GSpeech TTS

Free to use text to speech screen reader that implements it’s use easily onto your website. Highlight text on your website and it’s play button will appear.

FontAwesome

Add SVG icons anywhere on your website, customize their size, color, and even animation for free! Some of their icons are paid but they do have a large variety of free icons

Simple Custom CSS and JS

Need to override something on your website’s theme but there isn’t a way to do so in their editor? Override it using this plugin! Some basic coding knowledge required.

WP Dark Mode

Easily add a toggleable switch that makes your website darker for those that prefer it or for viewing in low lit areas. No reason to pay for it unless you want more customizing options.

Calculated Fields Form

While overwhelming to use, it’s free version has a lot more features than WP Forms Lite and even their plans are cheaper, however, for a more easy to use form use WP Forms Lite. ↓

WP Forms Lite

Free version doesn’t include many things the above plugin does, however, it’s much easier to use. You can also download this plugin from the Discord to add an upload field for free.

Newsletter

The best free to use newsletter plugin I’ve found so far. You can pay for it, but I wouldn’t. Media doesn’t seem to work in any emails I send, however, which is a shame but might just be me being daft and not the fault of the plugin itself.

Site Reviews

Easily add a form to your website for people to leave your star based reviews. You can customize the form as well as manually approve each submission and reply to them publicly too!

I’m constantly adding to this list so check it often!
