Marketing & Management Tips for Fansly Creators

The following are suggestions on how to improve your reach, views, likes, interactions, and sales on Fansly based on my own personal experience and from observation of successful creators I follow.

Do not include nudity in your profile picture or cover photo!

Fansly has the following listed under “Prohibited Uses” in their TOS:

Without our express prior written authorization, you will not: use of graphic nudity in profile avatars and banners.

Since there’s no way to know what Fansly considers “graphic”, it’s best to avoid nudity in general. You can see if they blur any of your media including your profile picture and cover photo by viewing your profile on an incognito browser as a logged out user.

Bio’s that do not require users to click “read more” do better!

My Bachelor’s in Web Design and Development taught me that the average website viewer is impatient and will not read anything that is more than a few sentences. Hell- even a full 8 sentence paragraph will be left unread by the average viewer which makes porn viewers even more impatient. Sweet and to the point. The only time you should be lengthy and detailed is when describing your porn in that media’s specific post!

Also- don’t forget to link your Twitter, Bluesky, Instagram, and TikTok in your profile!

When editing your profile, you can link the above social media accounts by entering your username for each one. Doing so will not only allow those on Fansly to follow you there, but it will tell anyone on that social media platform that your account is legit. Here is my bio that also shows how your linked social media accounts display:

Don’t overwork yourself by promising too many things to your subscribers!

Limit benefits that require you to give specific attention to someone to your most expensive tier. You should also limit the number of subscribers allowed on said tier if you’re offering custom content and sexting sessions or physical items like prints or stickers.

You can limit your Subscription Tier to a maximum amount of Subscribers that can be subscribed at once.

You can pee on Fansly! But- you still can’t show blood.

While Fansly is more inclusive in some areas (you can pee and be pissed on but no consumption), it’s still unable to host blood content of any kind, scat, vomit, and more. You can read their full list of prohibited content below which I copy and pasted from their TOS:

Without our express prior written authorization, you will not: post, upload, or share content that depicts, advertises, promotes, encourages, facilitates, or solicits (real, simulated, or implied) (i) sexual activity involving minors; (ii) incest; (iii) bestiality; (iv) violence, kidnapping, rape, lack of consent, hypnosis, intoxication, sexual assault, torture, sadomasochistic abuse or hardcore bondage, weapons (unless obviously fake), asphyxiation, extreme fisting, or genital mutilation; (v) necrophilia; (vi) consumption of urine; (vii) blood, scatological, vomit, excrement-related content or prolapsing; (viii) age-play or suggestion of underage participants, (ix) illegal prostitution or human trafficking, whether explicitly or by use of any slang, acronyms, or abbreviations; (x) โ€œrevenge pornโ€, defined as any User Content containing any individual who has not consented to that User Content (a) being taken, captured, or otherwise memorialized, or (b) being posted, uploaded, or shared on Fansly; (xi) illegal or illicit drugs1; (xii) suicide or self-harm; (xiii) any other illegal behavior or behavior that may be considered obscene under applicable law.
    1. Smoking marijuana is fine as long as it’s legal in your specific place of residence. โ†ฉ๏ธŽ

Do not mention “worn” clothing items for sale on Fansly!

If you offer this, I suggest to advertise it somewhere else (a website you host or a platform that explicitly allows it like ManyVids) because Fansly does not allow it due to their credit card agreement not allowing it. Advertising “worn” or “used” clothing items for sale of any type, can get your account deleted! This includes selling spit, cum, etc. as it’s illegal to ship bodily fluids through the mail (at least in the United States, that I know of). It’s listed twice in their TOS so I definitely would not test the limits:

Without our express prior written authorization, you will not: sell or purchase used or soiled clothing items. sell or purchase used or soiled clothing items. post, upload, share, or collect the telephone numbers, street addresses, last names, email addresses, URLs, geographic location, or any other personal information about users or third parties without their consent, or, except as expressly authorized in these Terms, use the materials on Fansly for any commercial use.

Offer a variation of prices across your tiers!

Not many are willing to pay $10+ on a subscription they aren’t sure they will like. To increase your chances of getting even single time subscribers, include multiple tiers starting at the least amount of benefits being at the lowest $5 (so you can still set it on sale for $3 as that’s the lowest possible), and depending on how much your most expensive tier is- two or more tiers in-between slowly going up in price with equally valued benefits. Here are my tiers and their benefits on my own Fansly as an example:

You are completely welcome to use my tiers for yourself as well since they are so basically worded. Copy and paste it, I don’t care! However- I advise to instead write it yourself in your style so it reads like you.

Set your boundaries in an automated message to all new followers!

I also highly suggest to include the following or something similar in an automated message so those who follow you have no excuse but keep in mind that users can subscribe to you without following you so set up your automated messages accordingly.

๐Ÿšซ Read Fansly's TOS before interacting with me. I block all those who comment or message me content that can get my account deleted. fansly.com/tos

Want to ensure anyone you block cannot have access to your content?

Then never send PPVs or set posts for individual sale because any content that someone purchases access to specifically is accessible to them even if you block them. I do not know if this includes content that has an added fee on top of a subscription access at this time but I emailed Fansly support about it and am awaiting a response.

To lock your feed or to not lock your feed?

Under Settings > Privacy & Safety you can set timeline permissions to lock your feed from being guest accessible. You can also block countries, states or cities from being able to find your profile if you wish.

I personally suggest not to lock your feed for the sole reason that you are more likely to gain a new follower if they can see your feed beforehand, even if all they see are heavily blurred or pixelated previews because it’s proof you have content past the numbers in your bio.

Locking your feed also means that when other creator’s share your posts to promote you, their followers will not see the post you shared. Instead, they will see a gray rectangle with a notice that they have to follow you to unlock your feed.

A gray rectangle with the following text centered:

This post content is only available for users who are:
Following & Subscribed
OR
Following

While you can still ensure your posts with previews set show up on the FYP by adding #fyp in the caption, I believe this only effects the FYP and not other creator’s feed sharing your post. I’m also not sure if the slider for “Internal discovery when the timeline is hidden” refers to the FYP or your shared posts on other creator’s timelines at this time but mine has been on by default even though my feed is not locked. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

If your feed is accessible by non-followers, you should have an pinned introduction post!

Include at least one picture of yourself that really sums up your vibe that you’re comfortable having free and your specific niche keywords as hashtags. Other creators can share this post on their own page as way to share for share and it helps you get found organically by new Fansly users.

Pin a poll to your feed asking how they found you!

Create a post asking “how did find you find me here?” and add a poll with each of the social medias you’re on as options. This will help you learn where you are getting new followers and/or subscribers from the most in order to focus on that platform more than the others. Here’s a screenshot of the pinned post with the poll on my own Fansly as an example:

Do not set previews for content that are free!

Cloning the image as a preview and not adding censors makes it look like if they “unlock” it they will see something not already shown. As long as the media’s permission settings are left blank, it will show without a preview set.

Here’s an example of a post I have on my Fansly that contained free pictures but had the lock on it as if it contained uncensored content if unlocked. I edited the original media’s permission settings to be blank in order to remove it- easy peasy.

To ensure your free content doesn’t show up with a lock icon on top of it, use the screenshot below as a guide:

A screenshot of a media upload pop-up on Fansly with only one image of green square with white text on it reading "FREE CONTENT". There is no preview set for it and all permissions are left blank.

Your free content posted this way will still show up on the For You Page as long as your feed does not have permission settings! If it does, don’t worry! Just add #fyp in the caption to ensure it shows up there.

Separate your media in multiple posts if possible!

If you average less than 20 media per set, consider posting them in separate posts with each post having a max of four media. This ensures every single one of your images/videos are seen as many will not click on a post and scroll through each one. It also shows more activity and translates to “more content” in the eyes of a viewer compared to one post with 20 pictures but only the first four are visible to them.

Add a preview to all visible media in each post!

A gray rectangle isn’t enticing. Pixelate or 80% blur at least the first four media in each of your posts. Is 80% not enough? You can double them up by saving the preview, clicking out, then clicking back into it to add another layer of blur at any percentage!

Below is a before and after of one of my own Fansly posts I didn’t include a preview when I originally posted it. I edited it to have one just now to show you how a blurred image over a gray rectangle really changes a lot! You can do this yourself to all your existing posts by adding your media to the post again from your vault (it can be a pain to find if you haven’t organized it) and resetting the preview.

If what you’re creating a preview for is a video, select a short segment of it (preferably one that does not include nudity) to set as the preview uncensored. If you’re unable to find a segment without nudity and have the ability to, edit the segment to be blurred or pixelated to suit your boundaries.

Avoid using emojis to censor your previews!

Using emojis to censor is a huge turn off for buyers as they can perceive it as “tacky”! I suggest sticking to pixelating or blurring to avoid possibly missing out on subscribers.

Do not use fancy fonts in your captions! Even if it’s just bold!

Unfortunately, fancy fonts are not read by screen readers or search engines like normal text because they count as “mathematical” symbols. This means that anyone that searches Fansly will not pull up your posts and anyone who uses screen readers will be unable to handle your posts because it sounds atrocious!

Use #hashtags that describe the content in each post!

Turn keywords in your descriptions of your porn into hashtags and add any other keywords related to the content in that post at the end of the description. Ensure they are all relevant to the content in that specific post and limit the amount to 13 since the developers have said that using 15+ hashtags per post will ruin your search.

Here are a couple screenshots of a Fansly developer’s replies to questions regarding hashtags and the For You Page.

Hey, hashtags are super important for the initial exploration of your content.

The question you should always ask yourself is: "will a user that is browsing any of the hashtags I used be interested in the post?". If the answer is no you should maybe not use the tag.

Generally the amount of hashtags is less important than the relevancy of them.

However picking tags that aren't relevant to your content can actually hurt your posts FYP performance so always ask yourself the question above, its better to use 5 super relevant hashtags than 15 not so relevant hashtags.

We suggest to use no more than 10-15 hashtags per post.
Hey, there's a lot of info about the FYP on the fansly_advice reddit already but I will try to give some answers here as well.

Posts start getting views anywhere from immediately after posting to hours or days, the algorithm usually promotes posts up to 90 days, sometimes longer. If you want to automatically expire your FYP posts I usually recommend expiring them after 90 days. There are multiple factors that are at play here but the algorithm generally tries to promote your content as fast as possible to users that are likely interested in your content. Using relevant hashtags is very important here as well.

This is also very individual and depends on the type of content of your post, some content might do better for you than other. Like with 1. hashtag choice also matters here and can change a posts performance.

The fyp does not restart when changing the post text. Reposting content can have a negative impact on the post because users are usually less likely to positively engage with content they have already seen.

The 5-10 or 10-15 numbers are mainly what creators have experienced to work well. This also heavily depends on the creator and the content. Generally speaking you should ask yourself "Will a user that is browsing the hashtags I want to use positively engage with my post?" If the answer is no, you probably should not use them for your post. Choosing hashtags that are irrelevant might actually hurt your posts performance. I can't specifically answer what happens if you choose too little or too many hashtags. The new analytics for your top hashtags can help you figure out which hashtags do best. You can also change the hashtags at any point by editing your post text.

This is also very individual and depends on your content. Usually I would say quality over quantity because a lot of low performing posts might ultimately hurt your good posts. Consistency is also important though. I suggest to start with a frequency that works for you and monitor your statistics and pay attention to what content does well and what doesn't. Identifying posts that don't do well on the FYP can help your good posts views. When you know something won't do well you can also always click the "promote post" and choose to not promote a post. This can actually be beneficial if its something yo want to mainly post on your timeline.

I hope this answers some of your questions. We always want to be as transparent and helpful as possible but specifically the FYP is an algorithm that is mainly controlled by the users engagement and on top of that is constantly changing and being worked on. We do have some control to make sure everyone has a fair chance to go viral but ultimately our users decide what content they find engaging.

With that in mind it is even more important to carefully choose your hashtags, especially if you fall in a certain niche you might see much better results picking hashtags that are relevant. Generic high traffic hashtags might give you a little more views but the positive engagement ratio will probably be worse and the algorithm will eventually stop promoting your content.

Here is a reel posted by Fansly’s Instagram on the For You Page:

Here’s an example of a caption with hashtags from my own Fansly:

A horny #solstice #elf oils up her #piercednipples and teases herself by rubbing them and even putting a #vibrator on them before using a #glasstoy shaped like a candy cane to fuck her ass till she cums! ๐Ÿง๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’‹ #anal #hairypussy #hairypits #smalltits #allnatural #makeup

Be descriptive! Save the vague captions for previews/teasers on social media only.

Ignore the “Show More” notice and be as descriptive as possible! The longer the video or the larger the photo set, the longer the description should be. Be careful not to get them off from the description alone, we don’t want that, but give them a well summarized version of what they can expect if they unlock or subscribe. Sometimes the preview you have set just isn’t enough and that’s just because some are like reading descriptions more than seeing snippets. Here’s another example from my own Fansly:

I strip for you slowly, unbuttoning my nightgown button by button. Teasing you with my natural perky pierced tits a bit before standing to remove my briefs, revealing my long and luscious bush. While rubbing my clit I show off my cute feet and toes, smiling because I know you love to see them- hehe. I moan so loud as I finish using my vibrator and then show you a close up of my spread pretty and pink hairy pussy. ๐Ÿ’‹ #vibrator #striptease #nightgown #hairypussy #orgasm #moaning #pussyspreading #feet #toes #piercednipples #smalltits #allnatural

Did you ask a teasing question in your caption? Add a poll!

This allows you to show examples of comments you like to see on your content as well as a chance for your more shy followers/subscribers to interreact with you with a simple click instead of typing out a response. Here’s an example from my own Fansly:

A screenshot of a Fansly post by @trinityblair on Mar 18, 2024 that reads: "Would you eat it from the back? [dazed emoji]
[media was removed via magic before screenshot was taken]"

A poll displays below the text with a total of 25 votes. The first option that reads "*on my knees begging*" has 56%(14) votes and the second option that reads "Yes! [heart eyes emoji]" has 44%(11) votes.

Do not over use polls though! I’d keep polls limited to one or two posts max per ten posts to ensure people will still be encouraged to comment on your posts instead of only interacting via polls.

Like your own posts and media! โค๏ธ No one will know- promise.

You might have noticed that there are red hearts on the media in my examples above! I like all my own posts and media immediately after I post them. Why? No one else can see that I liked them but me- or if I show you I have with a screenshot, haha. It boosts your like count and makes it look like your media has at least one like from anyone who sees it first.

Utilize your walls to easily allow people to filter your feed!

    To be written! Promise.
